The System You Inherited

An inherited system is calibrated for someone else's judgment. The question is not how to get better at running it.

The system you’re running was designed for someone else.

Not for your judgment. Not for your constraints. For someone else’s assumptions about what was worth solving.

Running it anyway is not neutral. The system shapes what you notice, what you defer, what you treat as fixed.

I tried a well-known knowledge management system. The categories made sense. The habit didn’t form.

The system was built for a different workflow. Optimizing within it was the wrong move.

I rebuilt it from scratch. It runs now.

The borrowed system might be excellent. The question is not whether it works. The question is whether it was built for your judgment.

Question the frame before you improve the picture.
