Behavioral economics spent thirty years mapping how much of what feels like choice is a path someone else built. The nudge is real. The dark pattern is deliberate. The cognitive bias is predictable enough to be profitable.
I stopped watching the news years ago. The first thing I noticed wasn’t what I was missing. It was how much the people who hadn’t stopped all sound like each other. Same outrage cycle, same reference points, same week of opinions. The environment produces the thoughts. They feel original because you had them yourself.
What you decide depends on where you decide from.
