AI is going to change a lot of jobs. Probably yours, definitely mine, in some form.
The wrong response is resistance. It has rarely worked. The Luddites were not wrong about what was happening. They were wrong about what to do about it. The loom replaced the weaver. The weaver’s children learned to operate the loom.
Every major technology shift destroys categories of work and creates new ones. The people who came through weren’t the ones who clung to what existed before. They were the ones who could learn what came next.
The skill that survives isn’t any specific expertise. It is the capacity to acquire new expertise. To pick up new tools, find new ways to be useful, stay curious when comfort says stop.
I have worked in banking, fintech, Bitcoin, and now I publish daily while building a holding company. None of those identities was permanent. Each one required learning something I didn’t know yet. Each one left a layer I can still draw on.
The resistance framing misses this. New tools are not just replacement. They are accumulation. The weaver who learned to operate the loom brought twenty years of understanding fabric, tension, and quality to the work.
Embrace the tools. Build the layers. That has always been the way through.
