Marcus Aurelius ran an empire he hadn’t asked for. Epictetus was a slave. Seneca served a court that eventually ordered his death.
None of them could change their circumstances. All three built the same method for operating within them.
The Stoics called it three disciplines: perception, action, and will.
Perception: understand the world as it is, not as you wish it were. Strip the judgment from events. The event happened. Your interpretation is optional.
Action: direct your efforts toward things within your reach. The right ones, toward a defined end. Energy spent on what can’t be moved is energy not available for what can.
Will: accept what is outside your control. Not as resignation. As a clearing operation. So the rest of your attention can go somewhere useful.
Apply it to payment rails, cloud infrastructure, or whatever venture you’re building. The disciplines don’t change. Constraint is the default. Clarity inside it is the skill.
